| I was only looking for a small drip coffee maker, and almost purchased the Black and Decker single cup brewer. As Consumer Reports said, good coffee depends largely on the beans, and not so much the coffee maker. However, I stumbled upon the aeropress and due to the high rating, decided to read the reviews. They were so convincing, I bought it. I love strong, smooth coffee. I just got it in the mail, and excitedly made my first cup. I have to say, it has not one trace of bitterness. It is very, very smooth. I'm so impressed! I am the only coffee drinker in my house, and I am a bit of a coffee snob - so this product is perfect for me. I really like the design of the product. It is easy to use and nothing like anything I've used before. It's small and compact. I've used the italian style stove top expresso maker in the past, but had the problem of the aluminum peeling inside of the chamber, and no matter what I tried, the coffee was bitter. I highly recommend the aeropress. In my quest to find a great coffee maker without the expensive price tag, a friend recommended I try the AeroPress. I was amazed that such a simple gadget could produce such a good cup of coffee. The quality and grind of coffee beans used is important. I'm still experimenting with different coffee grinds in order to find out what suits my taste. The AeroPress is relatively simple to use. It makes a very concentrated brew of coffee which you can dilute with water to suit your taste. The instructions are very simple to follow. One slight difficulty I found was applying enough pressure to the plunger to expel the coffee. I was able to do it but had to push down with a forceful and steady pressure. Other than that I found it to be very simple to use. I'm still using my automatic coffee maker most mornings when I'm in a hurry and have to go to work, but when I have the time I don't mind grinding fresh beans and using the press. I would recommend it. More trouble than it is worth. We used it several times and went back to our french press unit. Very hard to push the plunger down. |
