| This product is wonderful for toasting breads, making poached eggs and making hard boiled eggs - all while heating up some meat too! It has some kind of smart technology to where when you insert some bread, insert some egg(s) and lay some meat on the tray to warm up - you hit ON and it will toast at the speed of the cooking egg! That way it's all done at the same time. We just love it. This is a great product. Everyone who comes to my house falls in love with it and eventually buys one!! An easy way to make a healthy breakfast every day. First things first: it *does* work. The egg gets poached, the bread gets toasted, the meat gets warmed. Functionality gets a "B+" grade. Durability gets a "C-" grade. Functionality: the machine does a nice job poaching the egg and a decent job toasting the bread; the reasons it doesn't quite get an "A" here are twofold - first, during cooking, steam condenses on the inside of the top and drips back down into the meat and egg trays, and secondly, there's no way to toast only the insides of the muffin/bagel. Durability: this is the real Achille's Heel of the machine. After about 20 uses, the non-stick coating started flaking off the inside of the egg tray, making it pretty much useless except for those who enjoy picking small bits of nonstick coating out of their eggs. Half a dozen uses before that, the handy thumb-sized handle broke off the clear lid, making it a bit tricky to disassemble at the end of cooking without flooding the egg/meat with condensed water. Finally, even if you manage to somehow avoid those issues, the cheap plastic membranes covering the four "mode" buttons seem sure to wear through quite quickly. I enjoyed my 20 egg-mcmuffins, but now it's only useful as a toaster (and I've already got a much better toaster!). |
