| A floating hinge and two sets of cooking plates turn this multifunctional unit into a contact grill, panini press, large open grill, or griddle. Made of brushed stainless steel, this four-in-one, space-saving appliance offers cooking options that range from pancakes, sausages, and grilled cheese to fish, hamburgers, and panini. Its floating hinge adjusts to the thickness of food, while adjustable temperature controls ensure food is cooked properly. The unit features a sturdy panini-style handle and convenient indicator lights, as well as nonstick grill and griddle plates that are removable, dishwasher-safe, and designed to drain grease away from food for healthier cooking. Two dishwasher-safe drip cups to collect grease are included, plus a dishwasher-safe scraping tool for easy cleanup. The unit measures 13 by 11-1/4 by 6-1/2 inches and carries a limited three-year warranty. --Catie Unger |
| I saw the commercial for this on TV, and immediately looked it up on Amazon. It's not as great as shown on TV, but what is? I was using a George Foreman grill, and loved it, but the grill plates were not removeable and it was a hassle to clean, and even though it was family sized, it was a little too small, and due to the slant, all of the cooking surface wasn't usable. That's why I wanted to replace it, even though it was less than a year old.
I purchased this unit, it arrived new, packaged well, and quickly. It's a good looking unit, but not quite as commercial looking as it was on TV or in the picture, but still nice. It heats up quickly, but not quite evenly, the bottom heats a little more than the top, but I think that's average on this type of appliance. I was quite disappointed with the grill plates as they are lightweight, and I expected something similar to the cast-iron grill that I use on my stovetop, which I love. These are coated with some kind of non-stick coating, I presume, and I wouldn't have purchased if I had realized this as I believe they are detrimental to your health in some cases. I use the unit several times a week, the dishwasher gets the grates mostly clean, I use a toothbrush to clean between the grates, but it's still better than the Foreman, since I can remove them for cleaning. All in all, I would probably purchase it again, if I couldn't find one with better grates, I thought it was a commercial grade unit, which it is not, and which would be more likely to meet my expectations. Food does stick slightly, but it can be unstuck easily. It's not made for quick-grilling a steak, if you're picky about your meat, but for occasional use for a quick and easy way to grill meat or panini, it will fit the bill for most households, I'm sure. I got my Griddler last year for Xmas and bought one for my Mom this year because I love it sooooo much! Cooking is easy and quick -- and so are set-up and clean-up. True, some things are better cooked on this than other things, like panini and guesadillas are better than steak, but I'd be willing to try to cook just about anything on it once. Great wedding gift!!! I have always had great repect of the Cuisanart name, but this one has me a bit disappointed...I was expecting the grids to come out spotless , since I can put them in the dishwasher, but that is not the case...I hesitate to say it, but my Hamilton Beach Health Smart cleaned up much better, and that one is not immersible.. |
