| Just got my B-40 elite and I love it. We have the largest office version at work, and it is awesome. I was a little scepticle that the B-40 would seem "cheap" compared to the office version, but I was pleasantly surprised. This machine seems to very nicely designed and built. I would have to say it weighs around 30 lbs. I have owned probably a dozen different coffeee makers of all types and brands and they always seemed flimsey and cheaply made. Not the Keurig - very nice.
As for the operation it is awesome. Super easy to use and very convenient, since there is virtually no clean up. The machine I got has two sizes. The large size fills a standard coffee mug right up to the top. I like having the option of the small size, if I am in the mood for a really strong cup. As for the coffee, I rate it very high. This makes great coffee and the variety is tremendous. In my opinion the Senseo makes a better cup of coffee, but the Keurig is not far behind, and the Keurig outshines the Senseo in ease of use and clean-up. I had lots of problems with the Senseo machines as well. My hope is that the Keurig gives me 1-2 yrs of use. I definately recommend this machine - you won't be disappointed. I have owned this machine for over 1 1/2 years and I have to say that it makes an excellent cup of coffee. My wife and I are hooked on the perfect cup of coffee that this machine makes. We actually dread not having a cup of Keurig coffeewhen we travel. Friends and family who have had this coffee at our home have gone out and purchased the Keurig. I purchased it because I work from home and found going out to Starbucks, Dunkin, or our local coffee shop. Not only was this a time buster but it gets to be pretty expensive. The Keurig costs $99 and a cup of coffee averages .45 - .50 cents when you purchase the K-cups. If you drink 2-3 cups a day the machine and coffee will pay for itself soon if you go out for your coffee. If you add the cost of your time of driving to the coffee shop and standing in line than it becomes priceless. Drip coffee, Perked coffee, French pressed coffee (time to make) does not measure up to the Keurig. Keurig is owned by Green Mountain Coffee which is the best coffee in the world. Period. They provide coffee of many blends and flavors. There are many other coffee suppliers who sell the K-Cups. The K-Cups are now showing up in our local markets. I think this is a testament to the popularity of Keurig. I cannot speak to the other models that are sold but we purchased the low end B40 and it works great. The coffee is made in less than 40 seconds. It is at the correct temperature and is always and I mean ALWAYS perfect and consistent. The cup of coffee is not a Grande or a Verde or a Mega Joe. It is a 7.25 ox of coffee. What is considered a normal cup of coffee in world only in the US is it considered small. For me and my Mrs. it is fine. Just this morning we were commenting how painful it would be without our Keurig. The best feature of this machine is coming downstairs bleary eyed at 5:00 am and making a hot cup of GMCR Nantucket Blend first thing in the morning. If you purchase the Keurig make sure that you determine what kind of coffee blend or flavor you prefer. If you are a Starbucks lover than look for extra bold blends of coffee. GMCR, Gloria Jeans, Timothy's will all have their coffee labeled as such with ratings. If you are a Dunkin coffee lover than I would suggest that you look into the "break Blends" or lighter blends. We have only cleaned the machine once since our purchase and it is a very simple process described in the manual. The only issue we have has is that of late the opening and closing of the K-Cup holder thingy-ma-jig has been diffcult to open and close. It seems that there is some friction causing it to appear stuck. It is remedied by using my other hand to push down or up on the opening. Really not that big of a deal. I hope this review has helped someone in their decision. This review is based on a year and half daily usage of 4-6 cups a day. OMG, that is approximately 3,276 cups of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. At an average cost of .45 a cup that equals almost $1500. If I had that many cups at Dunkin at $1.75 a cup that would be over $5700. But even half the number is over $2800 so this machine definitely pays for itself. Enjoy. Hot, fresh, full-flavored coffee in under one minute. The Keurig does one thing and does it well. I relegated my french press to the cupboard. The included sample pack is excellent, as well, because one can quickly determine the style of K-Cup one likes best. For me, the bold varieties are superior to the regular and medium blends. The milder blends taste a bit thin. So far, I have not used the 9.25 oz. cup size. The 7.25 oz. size delivers just the right flavor. I also ordered the My K-Cup. While not nearly as convenient as the prepackaged K-Cups I can create very nice, robust brews relatively easily with the My K-Cup. The only con is the large size of the brewer. It takes up quite a bit of space on the counter. Its size, though, is a minor issue considering the hot, fresh, delicious coffee the machine produces. |
