| Let me start with this, I'm not a coffee connoisseur (I think work coffee is o.k. and that most "coffee shop" coffee is overpriced). I like hot coffee with a little bit of kick. This machine does it better than other machines I have owned because they were all batch machines. I would make a full pot of coffee and sometimes I would use it, sometimes not. At the end of the pot even to my non-picky taste it got a little rough. This machine gives a fresh cup with a variety of choices of flavor and strength. I very rarely make coffee that gets thrown out so I think it is cheaper and reduces waste (at least for me). It is also really good if you entertain so that all guests can pick what they like and try a variety of choices. This is my favorite kitchen appliance (other than the dishwasher).
One last thing - at some point I lost the cup for making the k-cups (my wife misplaced it using the my k-cup to make tea). Kuerig has excellent customer service and got me a replacement right away no questions asked. I gave this as a gift to my parents for Christmas and it went over very well with them as well and one of our house guests has since purchased one as well. I should stop because I'm gushing now - I tried to think of something negative to say and here's all I can come up with - I can't find the packaged coffees at the local grocery store or supertarget. You'll need to plan on buying online or find your own local source. Amazon has a good selection and they sell them 50 at a time for a reasonable cost so it hasn't been a big issue for me, but it is a minor annoyance. I can use local coffees in the my k-cup thoough so there is a work around. This is great if you need both regular and decaf in the same house. It is very convenient, but you pay for it. Before you buy this type of machine make sure you know how many ounces are in your favorite cup! A cup of coffee is not a mug. I have the B40 and the larger size brew is only 9oz which is only a small mug. Since the coffee grounds are one size fits all, you will want to buy "bold" coffee to get a good mug. My solution has been to brew two of the smaller cups (7oz) into my usual mug. This of course doubles my cost per mug. A better solution is to buy the reusable filter and fill to taste. I can pack the filter full and run two 7oz cycles through one set of grounds to get a 14oz mug of coffee. Since I drink so much coffee, I wish that it had a larger water reservoir. I recently bought the B50 machine. A few of my friends had them and enjoyed the convenience, hang the extra cost. Since my husband hasn't been drinking much coffee lately, I decided to treat myself. The machine is very noisy, making a loud grumbling noise. I called Keurig and they gave me the run around. They said noise is because I have it on a hard surface (Silestone); I need to get a large mouse pad to put under it; the noise is normal. I explained that my friends' machines are not noisy. They said this is the way the machine should sound and that's that.. I had no other choice but to return it to where I had purchased it. A manufacturer who will not back their product doesn't deserve to have it on the market. No customer satisfaction guarantee on this expensive machine. |
