| I bought this tv mainly to watch blu ray movies and enjoy ps3 in hi def. I am very impressed with this tv. First It was delivered ahead of schedule and Eagle service was fine. No problems there. The tv itself is very attractive. Not fancy and cheap looking like some samsung models I have seen. But its also plain black. Which I like. I first popped in Mel Gibson's Apocalypto into my ps3. I was stunned by the level of detail and smooth cine of the opening scene. There is some noticeble grain or pixilation in some areas of the action. But overall very impressive. I then popped in Assasins's creed and was great there for games as well. Audio was good quality and you may want a surround sound speaker set up to enjoy it more. So I recommend this if you like movies. I don't watch cable or network tv so I can't comment on that aspect of this product. Hope this helps. I am extremely satisfied with all aspects of this purchase. The price was the best I could find from any reputable dealer, (Best Buy, Circuit City, PC Richard etc.) or any retailer, (brick & mortar or .com) for that matter. Not only was the price great, but so was the service from Amazon. They emailed me immediately with an expected date of delivery, and the shipping company called me within a couple of days to schedule a four hour window for delivery. The TV arrived much earlier than the expected date of delivery and the company was on time and professional. I have to say I didn't have the delivery guy set up the TV because I wasn't home, (wife accepted delivery) and I'm a little crazy when it comes to my electronics. Luckily for me there were no problems with the set. As far as the performance of the TV, I couldn't be happier. I own a Samsung HLR-5668W which is a 1080P DLP and I think the Sony looks better. Every video source I have used looks phenomenal. I have a cablevision DVR hooked up through the HDMI input and a Sony Playstation 3 also connected through an HDMI input. As far as television programming goes the HD channels are stunning and even standard definition programming looks great. Blu-Ray DVDs look incredible, and even my regular DVDs look great. When used to play video games this TV is awesome. The graphics are unbelievable, and I have experienced no problems with motion blur. I also own an Xbox 360 and when I tried it on this TV with HALO 3, (or any game) it looked fantastic. Of course the sound isn't comparable to a true surround sound system, but I would say it is very good and extremely loud if you want it to be. I won't go into any technical details because enough people have, but I feel this TV will not be obsolete for many years to come. My one issue with the TV, that I was aware of when I purchased it, is that it only has two HDMI inputs and if I want to hook up everything I own, (Cable DVR, PSP3, Xbox 360) at once I'm forced to use the component input. If money didn't matter I would have purchased the KDL-40W3000 which has three HDMI inputs and some better technical specifications, although I don't think my eyes would see any improvement due to the better specs. This is a great TV and would highly recommend it. I cannot say enough good things about the Amazon service and the fantastic Sony Bravia 40" which I have just received. I placed the order with Amazon on Saturday 5th and it was shipped on Monday 7th. I was told it would arrive on the 16th but it arrived this morning on the 9th....seven days earlier than anticipated! It came by Eagle USA carrier and the young man who brought it called early in the morning and told me the exact time he would be there. I am a 73 year old widow and appreciated very much that he brought it into the house, unpacked it, set it up where I wanted it and programmed it for me. He even attached my DVD for me. Now, that's service! I did a lot of research before I bought this particular Sony and purchasing it through Amazon was by far and away the least expensive deal I could have found (no delivery charge and no tax as it came from a different state), saving literally hundreds over local delivery. I do not have HDTV yet but the picture is already magnificent with the cable signal I do have, and when in February 2009 the signal will be HDTV I know it will be even better because I have seen it locally in stores with the HD signal. I already have a 26" SAMSUNG flat panel TV and I can see that the Sony remote is much simpler and easier to use. This is very important to the less savvy technical person, and a big plus as far as I can see. I am ecstacically happy with the Sony Bravia KDL-40V3000 TV and also with the Amazon service! |
