Face it, sometimes the best thing about going out to a movie is the popcorn, those big plump kernels that always seem so much better than what you pop at home. But this simple stovetop popper changes all that. It really does make awesome, fresh-popped corn that might make you start renting videos instead. The sturdy aluminum pan has a clip-on lid with a stay-cool wooden handle. A turn crank on the handle spins the key element: the stainless steel stirring system that keeps the corn moving across the bottom of the pan, for even heat and oil distribution, ensuring the best popping results. The lid has steam vents, to help keep the popcorn dry and crisp. The enclosed booklet is a wonderful resource, with not only clear and detailed instructions, but also dozens of recipes and popcorn history and lore. These are folks who really do know their popcorn, and the results are outstanding. --Cynthia Nims
We have now used to whirleypop five times and five times in a row we got a whole popper full of perfectly popped, tasty corn in 45 seconds with only two tablespoons of olive oil.
Why use unhealthy microwave popcorn or a tasteless air popper when this is so fast and easy!
The popper is very easy to use and clean.

Like others, I owned a previous model that was of much higher quality. We had it for about 4 years and it made great popcorn. However, there were two little plastic windows, one of which became cracked. This let burning oil pop out onto you while making popcorn (after one too many burns, I threw it out).
My wife surprised me several months ago by buying a new stovetop popper. This one immediately looked more flimsy and was of lower build quality. In particular, immediately after the first couple uses the lid would not stay on well while pouring out the popcorn. Several times it would pop off and popcorn would fly onto the kitchen floor. Our dog loves this feature, but I don't.
After several months and approximately 10-15 uses, one of the plastic gears cracked and came off the turning mechanism. This is entirely unacceptable. I expect it to last years, not months. This is pathetic worksmanship and the company evidently does not care enough about its customers to offer a quality product. I will not be a repeat buyer. Goodbye Whirley Pop, hello microwave popcorn. If anyone knows of a company that produces quality stovetop poppers, please leave a review including that information.

pops corn fast and with little clean up, product does feel a little light duty in regards to the price, but overall, satisfied
